Noti IM reports: The Navy Coastal Patrol based in Isla Mujeres rescued seven Cubans after receiving an emergency report about a group of people adrift at sea and in danger. The Navy sent out a RHIB type boat to assist in the search, as well as a naval aircraft. They rescued seven Cuban males, who were aboard a makeshift raft ~237 kilometers (128 nautical miles) northwest of Isla Mujeres.. LINK w photos   (Actually Noti reported it was seven Cubans and one American on the raft, but maybe they got that mixed up with the report of an American rescued/evacuated in the Pacific?).
Por Esto reports that the Coast Guard assisted an American in the Pacific off of Baja California with a medical evacuation

Baltazar Maldonado said that a discount of 50 percent is available on certain municipal and state taxes/fees for companies registered with the RIF (Tax Imcorporation Regime). This opportunity has been extended to include the month of February.
These discounts were facilitated by leaders of the National Chamber of Commerce Service and Tourism (Canaco-Servitur) of Isla Mujeres, by agreements made with the state government, offering a 50% discount for permits for bars and mini supers, who are registered with the RIF.
To obtain these benefits, the businesses must join Canaco or the National Chamber of the Food and Condimentation Food (Canirac).

Por Esto reports that the Navy based in Isla Mujeres rescued seven Cubans who were adrift at sea in a balsero raft in the Yucatan Channel, who were in good health. After they were rescued (see Noti article) they were given medical evaluations, and taken to the Naval facilities, where they were given food and beverages. They were read information about their Human Rights ( la Cartilla de Derechos Humanos) and turned over to INM (National Institute of Migration).
It is also noted that the Navy performed an medical evacuation in the Pacific, 92 kilometers southeast of Isla Cedros, Baja California of an American crew member of the fishing vessel "Red Rooster II" after receiving a phone call that the crewman needed immediate medical attention due to symptoms of high fever, severe abdominal pain, and respiratory problems.

Forecasting good weather for this week

.    Cold front  #26 arrived in a weakened state and only caused some morning rain, as well as a slight increase in the wind from the northeast, but it did not cause the port to be closed for small boats, according to the Harbor Master. Caution was advised in the open waters of the Yucatan Channel, where the effects tend to increase in the evening, but the weather didn't prevent any activities.
Good weather is predicted for Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and could continue throughout the upcoming week. The fishermen are looking forward to being able to work, with less than four weeks until the end of lobster catching season, before the four month closure.
Despite the drizzle in the morning, thousands of tourists enjoyed nautical activities, as well as the beaches,  and the 25 leasers of more than 700 golf cars reported good sales in the afternoon. The ferries moved more than 10,000 passengers from the terminals of the Cancun Hotel Zone, Puerto Juarez, and Punta Sam. Boats from Puerto Juarez brought families of tourism industry workers of Quintana Roo  who came to enjoy the waters and quiet beaches of Isla Mujeres
