Six cases of decompression since lobster catching season began

ISLA MUJERES, 4 de agosto.-
Leer más.full article at this link..     Since the lobster catching season began a little over a month ago, six fishermen have suffered from decompression illness. This is attributed to fishermen disregarding the dive tables and sometimes working in an impaired state. Luckily, all the fishermen who had decompression illness have recovered and resumed catching lobster on a regular basis.
The most recent case was Elihu Aarón Martínez Martínez, who is a member of the Caribe fishing cooperative. He was diagnosed with type one decompression yesterday (Thursday), with symptoms that included dizziness, vomiting, itchy skin and shoulder pain.  He was given treatment according to table number five, which lasted five hours and 15 minutes inside the decompression capsule.
On Friday, there was a false alarm with one of the workers from the  "Laguna Makáx" cooperative. He went to the hyperbaric capsule after diving, but he was sent to the Community Hospital and diagnosed with an infection in his throat and an acute cold that was not adequately treated. He didn't require hyperbaric treatment and will be able to return to work when he recovers from his cold.

We are working in coordination with SEDETUR (the federal Tourism Department) so that all islanders who work in the tourism industry have the opportunity to train and develop their talent.
Come and participate! (Classes on Friday & Saturday, Aug 11& 12 in Gender Equality)

Enjoy the best adventures on our island🌴, walk along its beautiful beaches and practice your favorite sports🏊🏻♀️🏄🏻, let #IslaMujeres make you fall in love.

We continue to work in coordination with the DIF Isla Mujeres so that more islanders have the benefits of our programs. https://goo.gl/cWGPQh
For the benefit of those who need it the most, Mrs. Paola Orrico de Carrillo, President of the DIF Isla Mujeres, made home visits to the elderly people of the Continental Zone in which she reiterated that they have the support of this organization with access to the different social assistance programs that are designed for them.
She also launched the first stage of the wheelchair support program for island families. The first beneficiary was Mrs. Felipa Canul, who is a grandmother of 32 grandchildren and an example of family life.
The DIF president said, "With the support of my husband, the municipal president Juan Carrillo Soberanis, through the DIF, we contribute with the greater welfare of our families, seeking their healthy development, with access to the social programs and actions we undertake, both on the island and in the Continental Zone, focused on children, young people, pregnant women, people with disabilities and the elderly."
Thanks to the support provided by the wheelchair program, people who are unable to walk on their own have a new life expectancy, and the possibility of having more independence to carry out their daily activities.

This information was translated yesterday and also mentions that the island's business sector wants the City to invest the more than 6 million pesos they pay each year for the collection tax of garbage to improve the fleet of trucks that collect and transport the trash. It also notes the the debt owed by the municipality of Benito Juarez for the mainland landfill has not been paid and discussion has had no result so apparently legal action is being taken. The debt of more than nine million pesos has accumulated over four years.
