CONANP prepares to revoke some whale shark permits
-http://www.tvislamujeres.com.mx/conanp-prepara-revocacion-de-permisos-para-el-tiburon-ballena/
-June 16     After reviewing files and inspecting the boats which have requested permission for sighting and swimming with the Whale Sharks, authorities have detected irregularities that could cause the revocation of  some permits, which could be then reassigned to others who have complied with the regulations.
There was a meeting last night with the authorities of the National Commission of Protected Natural Areas (CONANP), the Isla Mujeres Harbor Master, the boat captains, and the municipal president, Juan Carrillo Soberanis, to discuss a solution to the demand for permits.
Inspections have been carried out on 90 percent for the boats which have applied for permits, and it was determined that many of the boats are not suitable for this activity, and some are even in dry dock.
In a video disseminated through social media, Francisco Ricardo Gómez Lozano, regional director of CONANP for the Yucatan Peninsula and Mexican Caribbean, said their goal is to have a total of 240 permits, and even then, they will proceed with revocation of some permits that were previously authorized, if they do not comply with regulations.
He said after the review, it was determined that many of the boats are unable to operate, and if they are granted permits and they do not comply, then their permit will be revoked.  He said, "The agreement regarding these revoked permits, is that they will be issued to those who complied with the regulations, presented their documents correctly and on time, and their boats comply with everything required by the Harbor Master."
Marcelo Cupul, president of the association "Eco Tourism of Isla Mujeres" also appears in the video and said, "We recognize that a thorough review is necessary in order to determine who deserves permits and who does not."

Suspect arrested for burglary

“Entamban” a ratero[+] Ver masFull article at this link
Burglary suspect, JMG, 41, was arrested on Thursday at noon by ministerial agents attached to the apprehensions unit, in compliance with an arrest warrant in connection with a burglary in March of a private home on the Caribbean coastal road. The burglary occurred at 10:40pm and was one of a wave of burglaries that have been happening this year, affecting both residents and tourists.
The detainee was read his rights and transferred to the prison in Cancun to be made available to the judge who will determine his legal status. A ministerial official said this is an example of their commitment to pursue a comprehensive justice system that allows all who break the law to be brought before the courts.
It is noted that many burglary victims do not file official complaints because they do lack confidence in the ministerial agents and some even suspect the officials could have links to the criminals.
