Tourism industry ready to receive thousands of visitors during summer vacation

Para recibir a miles de visitantes durante la temporada vacacional de Verano

Lanrry PARRA

ISLA MUJERES, 25 de junio.-

It is noted that the buoys are in good condition, which will provide protection for thousands of swimmers in the upcoming summer vacation season. The lifeguards report that each week they advise  dozens of swimmers who want to go beyond the buoys and risk suffering an accident. Occasionally there are boats who anchor within the buoys.
The private guards who work for businesses with federal zone (beach) concessions report they war ready to provide protection and assistance, and they always work in coordination with the Port Authorities, Civil Defense, Navy, Tourist Police, Tourism Office, and Red Cross.
Restaurants in the beach area are prepared to provide quality service, food, drink, and facilities for tourists during the summer holidays.

Concerns about hurricane wall

 El muro de contención

Lanrry PARRA

ISLA MUJERES, 25 de junio.-
Concerns continue about the hurricane wall which protects about a kilometer of downtown, because the rock cages (gabions) at its base have deteriorated. It is noted that during a previous hurricane, the previous wall broke at Allende street, and if the storm had continued for more hours, it might have completely broken the wall in that area.

The weather was good for tourism on Saturday and there were no restrictions on nautical navigation and no incidents reported. The SCT (Secretary of Communications and Transport) said the weather in the Caribbean Sea is stable, and there is a forecast of a trough line that extends across the eastern Gulf of Mexico, which has the potential for causing increased cloudiness, heavy rains, thunderstorms, and squalls, which could suddenly increase wind speeds and wave heights.
Weather forecasters are monitoring two tropical waves, and good weather is expected for Sunday, which will benefit the tourism industry.  One wave is located over Venezuela between Latitude 04/13 ° North and longitude 068/069 ° West, moving westward at a speed of 287 KPH (sic ~28kph)  (15 knots).    The SEMEFRO (Medical Examiner) building was constructed six years ago, suffered vandalism, and was never put into use. The state Deputy Attorney General approved the moving of the MPFC (Prosecutor's office) to that facility, which was confirmed a week ago. The building is located near the municipal cemetery,by the edge of the Mundada Hacienda, where the residents of colonia Guadalupania have a temporary path, which is used as a short cut.
The Prosecutor's office is in a building which has leaks causing moisture to the files, there are cracks in the walls, and problems with the ceilings and entrance. These problems are attributed to a lack of maintenance. The signs and logos are expected to be added to the SEMEFRO building in the next few days.
