This is a weather bulletin for 3:50p-10p about Tropical Depression #3 moving away, out into the Gulf toward Florida, and posing no hurricane threat to the state of Quintana Roo, but  there are restrictions and advisories for nautical activities off the northern coasts and it says to expect continued effects of winds and rains in inland areas during these hours. (It's not raining this morning, at nearly noon, with cloudy skies and calm seas.)

Voting locations close with no problems

There were no incidents at any of the locations of the 28 ballot boxes, and political party supporters are awaiting the outcome of the elections for city government, Governor, and state legislators. It is reported that only 285 people voted at the Special ballot for travelers voting for Governor or for other legislators, which is only 35 percent of the provided 750 ballots. There were voters who expressed their satisfaction with having exercised their right to vote. Although the weather seemed to be a negative factor, the weather became favorable for much of the day.  After the voting closed, the rain stopped and people were waiting, excitedly outside for results, until about an hour later when light rain resumed. (seguía “chipichipi” una hora después).

Rain is beneficial for Salina Grande Lake

The water levels of Salina Grande had dropped, which could cause the deaths of fish from lack of oxygen, and while the rain that fell over the last two days has been beneficial, it was not enough to reach optimal levels, according to residents in the area. Due to the strong heat, it was down about 50 centimeters, and had yellowed.
Although it overflowed in the previous rainy season, more rain in the upcoming hours will not be bad for the lake, whose perimeter serves as a recreational walking area for many families, attracting both locals and foreigners. The lake is no longer connected to the sea, as it was in the 1970's, and many residents are in favor of a proposed project to connect the three salinas (Grande, Chica, and Aeropuerto) together and to the sea, at the Bay.  It is noted that this was not a campaign issue raised by either candidate.
It would be impossible to recreate the single body of water of some 50 hectares which existed in the 1960's, but the three lakes could be interconnected. A local resident explained would be healthier because it would reduce the flooding problems during the rainy season, since the entire network could channel the rainwater.
Foam was seen on the northern part of Salina Grande lake, associated with the winds and pollutants from the roadways for the colonias of La Gloria, Cañotal, Miraflores, Caridad del Cobre and Salina Grande. An islander who resides along the border of the walkway around the lake complained that she was not comfortable using the walking path after dusk because there are young people hanging out drinking and doing drugs.

Islanders came out to cast their votes

After nearly all the voting locations opened on time, lines formed quickly and by noon they had used 25 to 30 percent of the ballots, according to election officials. The rain prevented early formation of lines, however, before 7am there were already about 50 people waiting outside the preschool-kindergarten "Tlaloc".
The location which got a late start was the Special voting box installed at the Maritime Terminal to receive votes for traveling voters for the races for Governor and legislators. There were no other irregularities, and after 9am there were long lines at the primary school "Julio Sauri", where five ballot boxes were located. Before noon, there were also many people at the Middle School, but at the primary school "Andres Quintana Roo, where there were two ballot boxes, the line did not exceed ten people. The campaign period lasted 45 days, and the candidates expected the elections to be well attended.
