This article expresses disappointment at the items on sale at Chedraui, which included a credit ("bonus") of 150 pesos for every 500  pesos spent in various departments, which did not include most food staples. Some consumers were disappointed, who wanted to discounts to purchase new household goods. Sales in the liquor department were increased, because discounts were offered there.
There were discounts of up to 30 percent off on irons, small appliances, and refrigerators, but consumers such as Sra. Elena Lujan Tovar said the discounts were not 'real'. There were discounts offered at the Super Express franchises on the island of 20 to 30 percent off on certain items, and also at the stores of Dunosusa and Super Willy.

Representatives of dive shops met at the Hotel Bucanero on Wednesday and Thursday, from 7pm to 9pm, to discuss the new regulations that are going into effect in 2016 concerning recreational diving. The Isla Mujeres Diving Association requested their input on topics including children diving and the operations of groups of visitors concerning both free diving and diving with tanks. SUNDAY, Nov. 15

From Cultura Isla Mujeres on FB (my translation from Spanish):
Celso Piña will enchant the Caribbean
This musician from the mountain region will be performing at the Caribbean Culture Festival 2015 in Quintana Roo which takes place Nov. 3-22. Celso Piña, better known as "the rebel of the accordion", will have the Mexican Caribbean dancing to la cumbia on November 14th, in Isla Mujeres, sharing the stage with Pato Machete.  RESCHEDULED FOR NOV. 15-TONIGHT
The rhythms of this singer, composer, and arranger and icon of Mexican popular music in recent years, has confirmed his performance the festival. They will be bringing their distinctive sound that has enriched the cumbia with touches of other popular rhythms such as ska, reggae , rap and hip hop.
A born Musician, self-taught skill on the accordion, Pina provides a value beyond what is musical, and he represents an emblem of cultural Mexico today. This was demonstrated in the documentary film which he starred in, for the channel 11-one, and reinforcing the image immortalized in literature by  Garcia Marquez, dancing to the rhythms of cumbias which are proudly made in Mexico.
So, the festival of culture in the Caribbean, it enriches the purest style "Sonidero" with the presence of the musician who, for 25 years, has been one of the stars of the stage of the genre of cumbia.

From Sally Margolis Hi all!! We (Isla Animals) are gearing up for a HUGE Spay/Neuter, Vaccination, Wellness campaign for the animals in Rancho Viejo Nov 17-22. This is a very poor area in the municipality of Isla Mujeres. Most are living without electricity and running water. The situation for the animals there is dire right now with parvo & distemper running rampant, and heavy overpopulation. We expect to treat/vaccinate/spay/neuter 1000 cats & dogs with the cost of surgery at just $10us per dog. This may be the only time any of these animals see a vet. We can treat the existing animals, vaccinate others against disease, curb the population growth, and educate pet owners on proper animal care and make a HUGE DIFFERENCE!! We have the knowledge, experience, volunteers, and heart to make it happen. We are asking for all of your help to raise funds to make the campaign a reality. (We can also accept Paypal donations via our site islaanimals.org - just add RANCHO VIEJO in message, and cash in person on Isla Mujeres. Please, please share the link on your social media. It helps us so much. If you are not in a position to donate PLEASE do read the campaign & share, there is lots of excellent info in it about the work we do-There is always so much to do! Thank you for your time!  http://www.gofundme.com/isla-animals-rv
