The sea procession is scheduled for December 8th at 4pm, departing from the concrete pier, with decorated boats. The priests spoke about these events strengthening faith and involving families, and about the importance of participating and collaborating. They encouraged people to be involved with banners and pictures, and noted that every year a growing number of tourists join the local residents.

City Council approves discounts for payment of 2016 property taxes
The discount applies when the tax is paid in advance, in a single installment, for the entire year. The Council approved a discount of 25% in December, 15% in January, and 10% in February, by February 28th, as well as a 50% discount for those with disabilities or retirees with a credential from INSEN or INAPAM. Other sectors of the population who are offered discounts include the Union of Bachilleres school (SITACOBAQROO), National Union of Education Workers (SNTE), National Union of Workers of the Ministry of Health (SNTSA), and the Trade Union of City Employees of Isla Mujeres (SUTSAIM).
A successful Social Assistance Fair was held in colonia La Gloria, with most of the municipal agencies participating, and other governmental agencies, giving answers and solutions.

The celebration in honor of the patron saint of the island, the Virgin of Immaculate Conception, begin now and will last until December 8th. The traditional Mass will be held at 7pm, (Saturday/tomorrow) and afterward the image will be lowered from her niche, and a procession will be held downtown.
The festivities will include a grand celebration, singing las mañanitas to the Virgin, fireworks, processions, fairs, and other events, which will include 28 groups including cooperatives of fishermen and tour providers, neighborhood groups, unions, and others. The festivities will include the presence of the image of the Virgin of Cozumel, which will arrive on December 7, with 50 supporters.

Some 200 meters of North Beach have been eaten away at the western side, which is threatening to affect some coconut palms and buildings, which concerns entrepreneurs who have concessions in the Federal Zone, including Carlos Cervera. He says the 'whales' or 'geotubes' that protected the beach have deteriorated and need rehabilitation or replacement. There are eight geotubes that were installed after Hurricane Wilma in 2005, which need renovating or replacement. The effects of cold front number 14 are evident, which have affected the island since Monday.

Business leaders support the proposal to rescue the airfield, now that its administration has been turned over to the government of Quintana Roo, according to Juan Carrillo Figueroa, leader of the business organization CANACO and Baltazar Maldonado, leader of the food industry organization CANIRAC.
Sr. Carrillo said, "Fifty years ago the airfield was important place for the arrival of tourism to Isla Mujeres, when commercial flights arrived from the center and southern parts of the country, as well as private planes from different locations, and above all, from the United States of America." But when the Cancun airport began operations, it stopped receiving commercial flights, and has been only functioning for small private planes. Now there is an excellent opportunity to once again promote the arrival of more tourists in this way, by receiving charter flights from different parts of Mexico, as well as from the US.
If the necessary adjustments are made to the runway, it could receive small jets and commercial flights of small aircraft, according to Sr. Carrillo, which would beneficial for Isla Mujeres visitors. He said, "With the operation of the airfield, if a visitor required services of an air ambulance that could be done, which makes this location more attractive to different segments of tourists who visit this destination."
Sr. Maldonado said there is a basic need to support this plan, "Because it is beneficial to the tourism industry. We are in agreement about the need to support this, always."
