Clothing was provided at various locations around the municipality by the DIF, social service agency
The President of the DIF, Marthy Vargas Leon de Magana, led the delivery of new clothing to the communities of Francisco May and the Zona Agricola (Agricultural Zone). These are on the mainland area of Isla Mujeres.
The garments were donated to the City government by the SHCP (Secretaría de Hacienda y Crédito Público) through the SAE (Servicio de Administración y Enajenación de Bienes), which are federal agencies. The donations included clothing and footwear for children, babies, and adults, as well as sandals and underwear.
Sra Vargas said that in the upcoming week, she and her husband, Mayor Agapito Magana Sanchez, will deliver donations to colonia La Guadalupana on the island. Delivery of clothing is of great benefit to the residents of the municipality, and at this time two locations were covered, and in the future they intend to reach more families who have low incomes and are in vulnerable situations.

Paving has concluded on the section of road between the Naval Housing Unit and Mundaca Hacienda, and motorists are complaining about vibrations and unevenness throughout this kilometer, which they say was smoother before the work. Drivers are also complaining about the speed bump which was installed, saying it is not finished like the others. They want the paving work inspected and reviewed by professionals and municipal authorities, and then they want it improved.

Enrique Lima Zuno, president of the Yacht Club delivered a AC/DC telephone-radio, speaker, and antenna with cables to the Community Hospital, so they will be able receive messages for help from boats at sea. The Director of the Hospital, Pedro Zapata Loya, received the donation, accompanied by the administrator Hugo Aviles, in the upstairs hallway outside his office. Sr. Lima explained the equipment and how to operate it properly.
The radio equipment receives the frequencies used by boaters, fishermen, and divers who ply the waters around Isla Mujeres. As we know, they are subject to frequent accidents, especially the lobster fishermen who suffer decompression. Brand names and specifications of the equipment are given.
The Lima family has made donations to the health sector at different times, including the land where the IMSS (Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social) facility is located, and a chair for Dentistry facility at the General Hospital. After Hurricane Gilbert in 1988, they reached out to yacht clubs in the southern United States, who sent a boat with more than 150 tonnes of food and water, as well as materials to reconstruct homes.

Isla Mujeres: A Place of Traditions Participate! This is a poster for a Hanal Pixan altar competition Hanal Pixan is the Mayan holiday that occurs around the time of Dia de los Muertos and Halloween. It lasts about a week and a half and is a commemoration of departed relatives and friends, who are remembered with offerings of their favorite foods, drinks, and items at altars containing their photos, at homes, businesses, and other locations, and their graves are cleaned and decorated. There are specials foods and other traditions.
