Repairing areas of the cobblestones of Juarez Avenue
Reparan fallas en el adoquín de la Av. Juárez] Ver mas
Repairs are being done by the municipal government to areas of the cobblestones of Juarez Avenue. Some residents are critical of the new paving stones, saying they are inferior to the older ones.

Serious erosion of North Beach
Grave la erosión en Playa Norte[+] Ver mas
It is a few weeks before the summer holiday period and there is no plan in place to address the intense erosion of North Beach where the water is coming to the foundations of private buildings when the tide is high, according to information received. The deterioration of the old dike from the forces of the seas when the weather is stormy, has affected the access along the west side,  near the Rueda Medina Malecon and the Posada del Mar Beach, where its rocks can cause a fall or make access difficult. In 2008, several geotubes ("whales") were installed, which were filled with sand. But five of them have been broken and "deflated" in recent years, and erosion has resumed.
The municipal government has obtained the Blue Flag distinction for North Beach, and is seeking this designation for the Posada del Mar Beach, indicating it is a secure location for tourism and meets water quality and environmental standards.

Allegations of more arrogance by "Wato"
Pudo más la prepotencia del “Wato”[+] Ver mas
A small office has been build in Sac Bajo, with shade and a parking area, for the taxistas, opposite of Dolphin Discovery, where they transport hundreds of tourists daily. "Wato" is the nickname of the leader of the taxi union, Eduardo Peniche. There are unofficial allegations that mangroves were destroyed for this construction.
It is noted that there have been other groups who have negatively impacted the Makax lagoon and mangrove plants by building piers.
Mangroves, lagoons, estuaries, and marshes are protected by the Federal Criminal Code (Código Penal Federal), in Article 420B, which includes potential jail sentences of two to ten years and fines the equivalent of 300 to 3000 times the daily minimum wage (~$5usd/daily). "

May 5. Tuesday: Cinco de Mayo (Battle of Puebla). No school. This date is commemorated more enthusiastically in the US, as general celebration of Mexican culture (and opportunity for abundant consumption of salsa, chips, and Mexican beer.).
Here it is an 'optional' holiday (office & bank closings vary state to state) commemorating the victory of Mexican troops against a large number of French troops in 1862.
(Then, more French troops arrived, sending Benito Juarez's government into exile, and Maximilian was crowned emperor of Mexico in 1864. At the time, the US was involved with its Civil War, 1861-65.  {Link:How Battle of Puebla affected US Civil War.} Then the US supported Mexico and invoked the Monroe Doctrine against European involvement in the Western Hemisphere. Napoleon III withdrew French troops in 1866.)
