The completion of the paving work on Rueda Medina was delayed by about 30% by the inclusion of work on the water and waste water lines, which is an additional four weeks or 30 days. The road is expected to be ready for use by the end of December. There may be some secondary details like painting it,, to be done in January.
During the upcoming festivities for the patron saint, the Catholic guilds will be given access and allowed to have their processions. Access had been given to vehicles to reach the ferry or businesses along the road during the construction, while general traffic has been detoured.
There is one section closed of 870 meters where Aguakan has been working, which is being released today. Aguakan has closed the ditch they made, and doing secondary work like placing connections.

Some pedestrian areas that are uneven or have irregularities are unmarked and present hazards, especially in high traffic areas such as the walkway along Rudea Medina. With tourists about to arrive from Canada and the United States to escape the winter weather, these deficiencies could represent a risk for senior citizens, who could have accidents and receive sprains. It is suggested that the government take responsibility and correct these potentially hazardous areas.

The improvements to the water & wastewater network along Rueda Medina are being done with an investment of 2,576,387 pesos, to renew 870 meters of pipeline for water and for waste water. This project will directly benefit 150 resident and includes the replacement of 65 home connections. Residents in the area have been advised to keep children away from the construction areas, to respect the signs, and to close their windows to reduce the dust. The road construction was originally scheduled to be completed in early December, but when renewal of the water & sewer lines were added to the project, the completion date was moved to Christmas or early January, according to estimates. The initiation of the work was attended by the Mayor and other officials, who gave thanks for the work. There are members of the business community who are not happy with the prolonged blockade and detours.
Loose bull causes damage
For several years, the Comisión Federal para la Protección contra Riesgos Sanitarios/Federal Commission for the Protection against Sanitary Risk (COFEPRIS) has advised the local government to not allow cattle to be slaughtered at the Rastro Municipal, but this is occasionally allowed. These animals can cause panic when they escape from confinement. On Tuesday, in amplification La Gloria, damage was done to a scooter in amplification La Gloria which belonged to Víctor René Pech Sunza,(aka "Cholas") who is a tourism services provider. He asked for help from the municipal police, but then went directly to the owner of the animal who paid him 600 pesos for the damage to his moto. He said it could have been worse if he had not been able to stop for the cow. (I think?... que le dijo que pudo ser peor el asunto si la moto no hubiese sido la que detuvo al vacuno.) The cow walked along the perimeter road, facing the Caribbean Sea, and then walked into the nearby streets, where it could have attacked women and children, but it attacked "Cholas". Then someone caught the animal and tied it to a light pole near the store Carivalú, of señor Luis López Pech Sunza, which startled him and some other people, who sought refuge when they was the animal approaching.
Past incidents with cows include the time two escaped from an event for the town saint festival, and they fell down a ten meter cliff and both died. Some residents say cows and horses should not be brought to the island. This will avoid a problem "that is out of control" . Esto para evitar problema que salga de control.

on the island towards HIV Prevention & Testing and Teen Pregnancy
Prevention. Brazos has been working
closely with Agapito and the Minister of Health on Isla to organize these
events.
Nov 30*SUNDAY, the team will be doing Free Rapid HIV Testing & Education in Rancho Viejo, on the continental zone of Isla. This is a very poor area and they need a lot of help. All of the volunteers remarked in June, that they wanted to do more in this area as the interest from locals (and the need) was evident.
Dec 1 *MONDAY Teen Pregnancy Prevention Workshops at Middle School
6p. Town Hall/ Palacio Municipal will be lit red in honor of World AIDS Day with speeches by the Mayor, the Health Director, and a Brazos representative.

Nov 30 Hurricane Season Officially Ends
Regarding the schedule of celebrations for the patron saint of the island, they are as follows:
On
Friday, Nov. 28, the activities honoring the Virgin of Immaculate
Conception, the patroness of Isla Mujeres, will begin with the removal
of the icon from her niche, and the blessings of the banners of the
guilds & blessings for the faithful who have kept a promise during
the year. Following the blessings by Father Raul Sanchez, there will be a
procession through the town center. That will be followed by
fireworks, and the ribbon cutting to inaugurate the festivals, by the
City officials.
On Friday, there will be family oriented celebration to carry on traditions that will include a vaquería, bailables,and a kermesse.

On Sunday, Dec 7, at 7pm, the
Virgin will pass through the main streets of the isle in a caravan of
members of the congregation of the Church of Immaculate Conception. At
10:30pm the gremio of the mobile vendors will celebrat with a grand
kermesse, and the mass of the mañanitas will be held for a la patrona
of the island.
To close the celebrations, on
Monday, December 8 at 10am there will be a mass of First Communion, and
of the gremio of las Choncitas, and at 3pm there will be a boat
procession in the Bay, a mass, and the Virgin will be returned to her
niche until next year.
