A story demonstrating that this is a destination that is secure, friendly, and reliable.
A  family from Colombia in a golf cart stopped to take a photograph, and  the woman left her purse behind on the malecon, near the naval base. When they returned the purse was gone, so they began to make a report to the Tourist Police, because inside were their passports, cell phones, cash, credit cards, & other personal items. They were seeking help to contact their Consulate, bank, hotel, etc, when Sr. Martin Trejo (of Minino's restaurant) came in to report that he and his son in law, Adolfo Barbudo, had spotted the purse and opened it to look for identification. They realized it belonged to tourists, so they brought it to the Tourism office, where the Colombians recognized it and it was returned to them with all their belongings intact. The family Torres Rodriguez said they were deeply grateful, and they admired the honesty of the island people very much.

Beautiful weather prevailed

The winds from Cold Fron #12 died down on Thursday and the sun came out. The Harbor Master authorized navigation for small boats for recreational tourism within the Bay, but not yet for fishing because the waves were still high. Tourists were arriving but not at the normal levels, unlike Wednesday when there were fewer. Boats brought hundreds of visitors over and were anchored a short distance from the buoys at North Beach that protect the swimmers. Tourists were enjoying the island by foot and via golf carts. The sun which has appeared at 8am, changed at 1pm and went into hiding while rains arrived. This weather is said to be an effect of a stationary front, while the national weather service warns of temperatures decreasing on Friday when Cold Front #12 arrives.

According to a preliminary report from SESA, the state Ministry of Health, the fire was caused by an old installation of electrical wiring, and a short circuit On Wednesday the general cleaning was completed and they were ready to return to receiving the sick patients to give regular treatments for their chronic conditions, providing surgeries and hospitalizations, as well as treating emergencies, and any accidents. The overall removal is at 80% and the facility will soon be 100% operational, including the Dentistry area. At the moment medical consultations are taking place at the back of the hospital.

 Classes are normal again

The municipal Director of Education reported that classes were back to normal by noon on Thursday, after the cancellation of the parade on the island commemorating the 104th anniversary of the Mexican Revolution. The call for the school sector to mobilize in support of the cause of Ayotzinapa, that was supported in several cities, was not answered here.
Some taxi drivers said their clients commented that the cancellation was irrational on the island when many parents had spent money for the event. Parents who complained said Isla Mujeres represents no risk, except maybe for a few insults toward the Mayor because construction is being done at the wrong time of the year on Rueda Medina.
One mother complained that they had spent over 800 pesos for expenditures for their three children who were marching with their school to buy clothes and shoes, when they have no money and survive on low wages, and do not understand why these last minute decisions are made, when they should notify us days in advance to avoid the expenses.  On the eve of Revolutionary Day, the traditional parade was held on the mainland with over 700 students, while on the island the "order came" for cancellation, but the classes were not cancelled.

Isla Animals campaign for the upcoming November Clinic-Spay-Neuter-Educate
Sally Margolis  on FB....
Hi everyone, I just posted a campaign for an Isla Animals November Spay/Neuter & Education clinic. The only way to make change is through education of pet owners and particularly education of the children-and spay/neuter campaigns. At the last big IA campaign 220 animals were spayed/neutered. There will be an education station at this clinic and Isla Animals is also set to go to the schools. Please continue to support an organization that has made great strides with 15 years of steady service to the island. And please, please help us share this campaign! Thank you!
